This week we are returning to San Diego to showcase Sona Nanotech to the lateral flow world.
The Californian city again plays host to the Advanced Lateral Flow Course, one of the highlights of the lateral flow calendar, and for the second year running we are proud to be a sponsor and exhibitor.
This year we are particularly excited to be launching our new scientific white paper demonstrating how Sona’s unique gold nanorods are perfectly suited for competitive lateral flow assays.
The paper details an experiment that demonstrates that our nanorods can be successfully used in a displacement assay, that they can be used in conjunction with spherical gold and that two different coloured gold nanorods can be combined in one assay system.
Sona CEO Darren Rowles said: “We have always known that our unique gold nanorods are ideal for competitive lateral flow assays, and now we have the scientific evidence. They say seeing is believing, and I look forward to sharing our findings with the sector and showing how our nanorods can power the next generation of lateral flow tests.”
The three-day Advanced Lateral Flow Course (ALFC), hosted by DCN Diagnostics and Qiagen at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, is aimed at developers and manufacturers of lateral flow diagnostic tests and their associated products.
It covers all aspects of the lateral flow pathway, from labels, strips and reagents to reader systems and software and includes discussions on a wide range of topics from industry experts as well as presentations from businesses.
For the second year the event also plays host Rapid Testing Innovation Award, which recognises creativity and entrepreneurship in rapid testing. Five finalists will pitch their innovative ideas to a judging panel to win a $10,000 (US) cash prize.
At last year’s event, Sona signed a co-marketing agreement with fellow exhibitors Bond Digital Health, a UK-based company whose unique digital technology is enhancing lateral flow diagnostics. The agreement has seen the two companies work together to market and promote each other’s products and services, and we look forward to meeting the Bond team at ALFC 2019.
Mr Rowles said: “For Sona, last year’s event was a huge success. We attended alongside several of our existing partners and over the course of the three days we got to make many valuable contacts that led to more successful partnerships. A lot has happened for Sona in the last year and we look forward to attending this year’s event to show the lateral flow sector everything we have to offer, to catch up with our friends and partners and to make new collaborations.”
