Sona does not use CTAB or any of its homologs to produce its gold nanorods (GNRs). This means no traces of CTAB or CTA+ are present in the GNRs after production. Other suppliers make GNRs in CTAB or is its analogs and then try to remove excess CTAB or wrap their GNRs in polymers with CTAB still sitting on them.
We provide characterization information with every lot including size (TEM), optical properties (UV-Vis to near IR spectroscopy), zeta potential (Dynamic Light Scattering). Representative TEM images and batch-specific spectra are also included on every product sheet.
Our GNRs remain stable for at least a year. Please see our technical specification sheets for information on best practices for storage and handling.
We are actively seeking collaborations with lateral flow test developers or developers of any medical applications using GNRs or where GNRs may prove to be the appropriate particle.

We have a patent-pending manufacturing process that produces stable, monodispersed gold nanorods. Our customers will achieve better results due to the uniformity in rod shape, and the reproducibility that our method provides.
Our CTAB-free GNRs are safe for in-vivo uses, so if you are doing research that you hope will one day be approved for human trials, then our nanorods have the best chance.  Also, our GNRs have superior uniformity, and the surface molecules will exchange more easily with other molecules to make surface enhancement and functionalization easier.
